Nicola has been teaching in Sligo since 2000. She teaches German and History and is currently a member of the special educational team in her school.

 

Her role within this department is primarily in the area of assessment and making applications for RACE (Reasonable Accommodations) for State Examinations and with DARE applications for Third Level.

 

She has facilitated professional development training among her own teaching staff and is striving to make her school a ‘Dyslexia Friendly’ school.

 

She runs a lunchtime club where students can come, to pick up new learning strategies, swap stories or mentor each other.

 

Based in Leitrim and teaching in Sligo, she is available to evaluate the learning strengths and difficulties of both primary and post-primary children and can design a tailored program to tutor children with dyslexia/specific learning difficulties.
